Pretty straighforward.
The Max Limited Editions began in February of 2018 when my daughter, Jadie Max, was born 10 weeks early with some scary complications and a lengthy NICU stay. I cut a prayer band into every non-fluted handle I made until she came home 8 weeks later. I'm very thankful to report that she's a happy, healthy, walking, talking kiddo now.
In a spirit of gratitude, I've revisited the banded grips every February since. Beginning in 2019, I began giving a portion of the profits from Max Edition handles to The CALL of Saline County - a local non-profit organization that works to recruit, train, and support families to foster and adopt children in need of a home. In 2020, Grizzly Bay contributed a total of $2,500, with $2,000 coming from the sales of Max Ltd Editions in February. I'll be making A LOT of Max Editions with $30 of each handle, and $50 of each handle/knot combo going to support The CALL.
In 2018 and 2019, the handles had a single band on the grip (but the 19s had developed stylistically somewhat). In 2020, they had a single band and were produced sans-coin. For 2021, the Max Editions got a second band on the grip - just to set them apart. In 2022, the Maxes have returned to a single band, but carry the redesigned, updated Grizzly coin.
Thanks everyone for supporting this cause and the Grizzly Bay.
